Overview Report

The Overview tab is the default view of the Subscription Report and answers the question of how the recurring business is doing right now. Open WooCommerce → Analytics → Subscription Report.

Summary metrics

Every card has an information icon next to its label with the same definition shown here.

MetricWhat it means
Active SubscriptionsTotal number of subscriptions that are currently active.
Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR)Total recurring revenue generated per month from all active subscriptions.
Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR)The annual run-rate of all active subscriptions. Equal to MRR x 12.
Average Subscription Value (Monthly)Average monthly revenue generated per active subscription.
Customer Lifetime Value (CLV)Average total revenue generated by a customer across all their subscriptions over their lifetime.
Renewal Success Rate (Lifetime)Percentage of renewal payments that completed successfully, over the lifetime of the store. Subscriptions with auto-renew disabled are excluded.
Churn Rate (Last 30 Days)Subscriptions that ended in the last 30 days compared with new subscriptions created in the same period. Above 100% means more ended than were created.

How MRR and ARR are calculated

Each active subscription’s recurring total is normalized to a yearly figure based on its billing period — weekly x52, monthly x12, quarterly x4, yearly x1 — and then divided by its billing interval (so every 2 months counts half as much as every month). Those annualized amounts are summed to give ARR; MRR is ARR divided by 12.

Subscriptions in a free trial and one-off / lifetime subscriptions are excluded from MRR and ARR, because neither produces a recurring charge.

Overview widgets

Below the summary cards the Overview shows a set of widgets for the selected date range:

  • Active Subscriptions Trend — how the active subscriber count moved across the period.
  • Net Subscription Growth — new subscriptions minus ended subscriptions, so you can see whether you are growing or shrinking.
  • Subscription Revenue Breakdown — signup revenue versus renewal revenue versus switch revenue.
  • Top Subscription Products — the products bringing in the most subscription revenue.
  • Top Subscription Categories — the same view rolled up by product category.
  • Upcoming Recurring Revenue — a preview of the next 30 days of scheduled renewals, with the full view on the Upcoming Revenue tab.

AI Insights panel

If you have enabled AI Insights, an Insights card appears on the Overview with a Generate button. It writes a short plain-language summary of the period — what moved, what did not, and what is worth looking at.

The summary is generated on demand and cached, so re-opening the tab does not cost another request. Use Regenerate to refresh it. See AI Features for setup and exactly what data is sent.

The AI panel only ever receives aggregate totals — never customer names, emails, order IDs or product records.

Dashboard widget

The plugin also adds a Subscription Analytics Overview widget to the main WordPress dashboard, showing Active Subscriptions, Monthly Recurring Revenue, Annual Recurring Revenue, Average Subscription Value, Renewal Success Rate and Customer Lifetime Value, with a View Full Report link through to this tab.
